I have seen so many one-page resumes created by very smart people wanting to get hired... And it made me sad, which is why I am writing about it. Hopefully, this can change someone's life or at least their view about the subject.
Look, I get it, building a professional website requires a lot of research, work, and budget, but as a Virgo I would rather save up and build something I am proud of, other than create a one-page HTML and call it a day, Not that I have anything against that, It's just a matter of your image, how would you want to be presented online.
Imagine going to a job interview in a T-shirt and shorts? Feels weird and out of place, right ? Exactly, that is the same as having a one-page resume that represents you.
There are two types of people your website is speaking to. Recruiters and clients, and I have some news for you, they are not the same audience.
Recruiters are trained to:
Clients do the opposite. They:
That alone should change how your site looks, but enough about the looks, let's talk about content, keywords, and SEO.
Yeah, I hate to break it to you, but having a beautiful website is not enough, with AI, technologies, and website builders such as Framer, Webflow etc.. anyone can build a beautiful website.
I personally used Webflow in creating mine, and it's the best choice I have made so far. I have tried so many others in the past ( Wordpress lol, Shopify, Wix and even played a little bit with Squarespace).
Content-wise, it is advised to look at what your competitors are doing, just promise you won't build something like this:
Because none of these answers addresses the client’s real fear, his pain points, his big Why “Will this person solve my problem without wasting my time and money?”
So, as a starting point, think about your website as a book, and the index as your main header. This alone can give you an idea about how to structure everything.
The trap that many creators fall into is thinking that clients care about how many tools you master or how many programming languages you're good at. Clients don’t buy React, Node, JS, After Effects, or Mailchimp. All they care about is results. The faster you get that into your head, the better you are at translating from a one-boring-HTML-page to building a real, branded website that converts.
Speaking about tools and conversions, you will need the second most important thing, Emails ( Email Marketing ), and guess what ? Saiid just got you 30 Days Premium FREE Trial deal from the people at Mailerlite. Just click THIS LINK or the image below to get your offer.

Now, the real talk... There is a silent shift every professional must make, from: “I want to get hired.” To: “I solve this specific problem for this specific type of client.”
I know beforehand that the shift is uncomfortable, scary, and requires a lot of hard work, because deep down everyone of us feels like we are not good enough, well, guess what, no one is. Yup, everyone you see online is faking it until they make it.
If you are still not convinced, that is okay too. I am not selling you anything here, but just take a look at what you are missing:
Client-oriented branded websites do three things:
If you’re transitioning from employee to independent, you will need a personal brand that will evolve with you.
And if you are still not sure about this transition, I can help you.
